Makes 1 Sandwich

A Yorkshire Take on a French dip sandwich, also known as a beef dip. Use Granny Mary’s Potted Beef or Beef & Tomato to make the ultimate dipping sandwich.

To take your lunch to the next level all you need is:

  • Grany Mary’s Potted Beef / Beef & Tomato
  • Sub Roll
  • Horseradish
  • Grated Cheese
  • Gravy Granules
  • 1 White Onion


  1. Fry off your onions and add a tablespoon of sugar and allow the onions to caramelise slowly in the pan.Combine your gravy granules with boiling water to desired consistency. Then add to the pan of caramelised onions and stir
  2. Now, you’re ready to put together the ultimate sandwich
  3. Slice open your sub roll and put a nice thick layer of Granny Mary’s Potted Beef or Beef & Tomato onto it.
  4. Spread a layer of horseradish onto the potted beef. Then layer with cheese (you can put this under the grill to get the cheese nice and melted)
  5. Take your caramelised onions and layer this on top of the cheese. Then with a nice sharp knife, cut the roll into 2
  6. Take a small pot and fill it with the left-over gravy ready for dunking
  7. Now for the most important step. Sit down, relax and enjoy your lunch, you’ve worked hard today and you deserve a tasty treat
